A shocking news came from SOC. A wild female orangutan transferred by BKSDA task force team on July 28, 2019, to SOC, finally dead. A few days after being treated, his condition worsened. When she arrived, she just laid down and could not move. SOC vet found several open sores on his wrist and tailbone. The ape was not able to chew its food and has forced veterinarian and medical team to put on an intravenous infusion. However, this effort failed to prolong her life. Careful examination shown bruises on the head. Her skull was broken which causes brain haemorrhage. Maybe caused by a hard blow. An indication of violence. Vicktor Vernandes, SOC veterinarian, said that malnutrition and dehydration make her condition even worse. This animal is likely to be 18 to 20 years old.
The orangutan rescued by West Kalimantan BKSDA on 27, July, 2019 after being reportedly captured by villagers of Tebang Kacang, Sungai Raya, Kubu Raya. West Kalimantan.
