Local community have limited access to education, skills training, healthcare, and economic opportunities. SOC has developed sustainable income generating models to support community by assisting them in producing red shorea oil (Shorea spp or tengkawang). Certain species of this tree grows in Kalimantan and Sumatera. Local people usually use its seed to produce cooking oil and butter.
We also involved local community around forest school as a local staff or supply orangutan’s food. Other activities include sustainable agriculture, small enterprise development, and ecotourism.
