The local community has limited access to education, skills training, healthcare, and economic opportunities. SOC has developed sustainable income-generating models to support the community by assisting them in producing illipe butter from Shorea stenoptera or Tengkawang trees. Certain species of this tree are endemic trees that just grow in Kalimantan and Sumatra. Local people usually use its seed to produce cooking oil and body care.

We also involved the local community around forest school as a local staff or supply orangutan’s food and make orangutan doll projects for women in there as our merchandise. Other activities include sustainable agriculture, small enterprise development, and ecotourism.
